It is one of the highest mountains in Dhaulagiri Himal , a mountainous region of the Himalayas . The Churh Himal has three peaks (east, middle and west summits), whose heights are given in the literature with 7371 m each. The main summit is the west summit. A ridge leads west to Putha Hiunchuli (7246 m) 6.5 km away . About 900 m east of the west summit lies the middle peak and another 1.3 km further east of the eastern summit of the Chur Himal. From there a ridge leads east to a mountain range with the peaks Dhaulagiri II – Dhaulagiri VI . On the southern flank of the Churen Himal is the Kaphegletscherflowing to the west .
The first ascent of the middle summit on October 24, 1970 by Masayoshi Fukui and Kozo Hasegawa and the western summit on October 28, 1970 by Kozo Hasegawa and Ang Norbu succeeded a Japanese expedition from the south side.
