ROYAL BARDIA NATIONAL PARK

The Royal Bardia National Park , mid-far Western region, is the largest and most unspoiled wilderness area in the Terai, covering an area of 968 sq. km. The park, a sub-tropical jungle, is thickly forested by sal trees and carpeted with grass, savannah and riverine vegetation. The Churia hill range borders the North, the Karnali River the west, while the Babai River cuts its course almost through the middle of the park. On the southern fringes are the villages of the indigenous and unique Tharu people of Western Nepal . Considered as one of the most picturesque national parks in Asia, the Royal Bardia National Park teems with rich and diverse flora and fauna.

 

 

The park is home to more than 30 different mammals, including the langur, rhesus monkeys, civets, hyenas, wild dogs, sloth bear, otters, blue bull, deer and wild boar. It is a regenerated habitat for endangered animals like the tiger, rhinoceros, wild elephant (the park harbours the biggest wild tusker in Asia ) and black buck. Gharial, and marsh mugger crocodiles, the great game fish – masher and the Genetic dolphin cavort in the river waters. The more than 350 species of birds include, cormorants, egret, stork, geese, jungle fowl, kingfisher and endangered species such as the Bengal florican, lesser florican, silver-eared mesia and the saurus crane, making the park a true bird watchers paradise.

 

 

Within the park are several open grasslands (phantas) where game viewing is excellent. Many of the forest tracks throughout the park also offer excellent game viewing. When you can take in the sights and sounds of the wild without having to give up on the creature comforts.

DAY 1 - Arrival and transfer to hotel[1336m]

DAY 2 - Day tour in Kathmandu

DAY 3 - Fly to Nepaljung

On Your arrival at Nepaljung our staff will receive you. You will then be transferred to our camp where you will be offered refreshment & be given a briefing on our camp & its facilities. After being given your programmes’ for the day, your room will then be allocated to you.

 

15.30 – Village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you will learn more about the life and lifestyle of the Tharus.

 

20.00 – Dinner

DAY 4 - Bardia National park

06.00 – Wake up call

 

06.30 – Breakfast.

 

07.30 – Elephant Safari. An excellent opportunity to see Asian Elephant, Great One Horn Rhinoceros, Spotted Deer or Chital, Hog Deer, Barking Deer, Samber, Swamp Deer or Barasingha, Nilgai or Bull, Black Buck, Wild Boar, Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Wild Dog, Golden Jackal, Striped Hyena. You will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Bardia their home. Visit to Crocodile Breeding Center , Park Visitors Center & Tharu Cultural Museum.

 

13.00 – Lunch.

 

15.00 – Jungle walk. An excellent opportunity to see the wild animals, small mammals, birds and waits in the Tower (Machan) to have the wild sightseeing, accompanied by our experienced naturalists and wild life tracker. Excellent photographic opportunities are plentiful.

 

19.00 – Tharu cultural dance.

 

20.00 – Dinner

 

13.00 – Lunch.

 

15.00 – Jungle walk. An excellent opportunity to see the wild animals, small mammals, birds and waits in the Tower (Machan) to have the wild sightseeing, accompanied by our experienced naturalists and wild life tracker. Excellent photographic opportunities are plentiful.

DAY 5 - Bardia National park

07.00 – Visit to the Government Elephant Breeding Centre.

 

10.00 – Drive to Bees HazaarTaal (Twenty thousand lakes) where you will see crocodiles and lots of birds in and around these lakes.

 

13.00 – Lunch. (Pack Lunch)

 

15.00 – Jeep Drive through the grasslands, riverine forests and Sal forests to Kasara (the National Park’s head quarters) Gharial hatchery farm where you will learn about how crocodiles are brought up at this farm & then later released into the rivers.

 

19.00 – Tharu cultural dance presentation or slides show presentation.

 

20.00 – Dinner

DAY 6 - Bardia National Park

06.30 – Wake up call.

 

07.00 – Breakfast.

 

07.30 – Visit to the National Park Visitor’s centre where you can learn more about the history of the National Park and about wildlife.

 

10.00 – Departure for onward journey to Kathmandu
