This trek leads through pleasant lowland country, up onto aremote,uninhabited ridge with fine mountain views of four of the world's fivehighest peaks. The first few days out of Basantapur are easy and pleasant,leading up to Gupha Pokhari, where Makalu 's reflection simmers in the water of apond. A trail continues up through the extensive pure rhododendron forests of theMilke Danda, past herders camps, and onto Jaljale Himal (4700 meters), a rocky ridge set with a few small lakes.
