Lhotse is well recognised for its proximity to Mount Everest, and it is the world's fourth highest peak at 8,516 metres. The Lhotse Expedition climbs the same route as Everest, passing via the aptly called Lhotse face almost all the way to Everest's Geneva Spur, where it continues on a difficult ascent through a long couloir to the summit.
